L'UE et la démocratie


George Ross is an adjunct professor in the Department of Political Science and at the European Union Centre of Excellence (McGill University - Université de Montréal). He studied at the London School of Economics and at the Institut d’Études Politiques de Paris and obtained his doctorate from Harvard University in 1973. He was recently president of the European Union Studies Association (2003-2005) and previously director of Harvard University’s Centre for European Studies, president of the Council for European Studies (1990-1997) and director of the Department of sociology and the editorial board of many international journals including French Politics, Culture and Society and the Journal of European Integration. Among his honorary titles, he was named an officer of the Ordre des Palmes Académiques by the Government of the French Republic and was awarded an Ad personam Jean Monnet Chair by the European Commission in the summer of 2008. His research interests concern European politics and industrial relations, the political economy of the European Union, the EU’s elites, democracy, globalization and social structures. The author of many works on the EU (including Jacques Delors and European Integration (1995) and Euros and Europeans (with Andrew Martin, 2004), he has taught at Brandeis et Harvard Universities in the United States, ULB in Belgium and Carleton University, the Université de Montréal and York University in Canada.
