The European Union after the elections

Less than two weeks after the European elections, the EUCE and the Goethe Institut Montreal join forces to host a public round table on the results of the elections and the future perspectives for the European Union in the next five years. The Cérium, the Canadian Centre for German and European Studies at the Université de Montréal and the Consulate General of Germany in Montreal are also partners of the event.

Program:

The round table will begin with an address by Dr. Klaus Hänsch, guest speaker. Klaus Hänsch has been a member of the European Parliament from 1979 to 2009 (for the German social-democratic party), and President of the latter from 1994 to 1997. He has also been a member of the Presidium of the Convention on the Future of Europe (2002-2003).

The conference will be followed by a discussion with four academics who will share their analysis of the recent elections:

The discussion will be moderated by Karsten Mecklenburg, member of the European Union Delegation in Ottawa.
